News Causes Drop at New York Exchange.
NEW YORK, Jan. 21 (U. P)— Stocks broke sharply today on uncertainties over the foreign situation.
"in the recently strong A. T. & T. capital stock. §
Trading increased to such pro- A portions that midway in the last|4
hour tickers were behind the market by several minutes. The tape caught up in a short time. Some selling was attributed to belated response to the Schacht diss charge yesterday and to the release of two of his aides in the Reichs-
bank. Worry over outcome of the(4
Spanish civil war influenced some
selling. Foreigners were sellers on a
balance, brokers said. German bonds, which lost only moderately yesterday, were under pressure. Losses extended to 3 points and several made new lows. U, S. Steel touched 62, off 2%;
Bethlehem 70, off 2%, and National Am
Steel | 76%, off 1%. Steel operations were expected to decline next week despite a 5% point rise schedude] for the Pittsburgh area, The ,Chicago and‘ Youngstown Districts were to start the new week substantially lower.

DEALINGS LIGHT IN CHICAGO PIT
, Torn Declines Fractionally;
Influencing Market “News Lacking.
CHICAGO, Jan. 21 (U. P).— Wheat prices continued to move in a narrow range around previous closing levels in light trading on the Chicago Board of Trade today. Corn .was off fractionally. At the close wheat was unchanged ‘to off % cent, May 693%, corn was off 3 to % cent, May 51%, and oats were unchanged to % cent
1%! lower, May 28%.
There was a lack of news to in-
!,,| fluence the wheat market definitely
in either direction, and most traders
7 | were inclined to stay on the side-
lines. Some firmness developed after the opening on scattered buying, but prices reacted on the decline in
i,| the stock market.
In the cash wheat market shipping sales of 140,000 bushels were reported, with a good demand from outside mills in evidence.

"GOOD MUSIC" By James Thrasher The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s appearance on tomorrow's “Magic Key” broadcast is an eloquent commentary on its rise to national fame in the last 18 months. For it is a fact that this popular and interesting program selects its guest performers only from those who have “arrived.” "It leaves the search for unknown talent to other radio producers. The broadcast, at 1 p. m. on NBCWIRE, will be conducted by: Fabien Sevitsky and will have Lauritz Melchior, the Metropolitan Opera's “heldentenor,” as soloist. It may inter-
