Wood, City Council president, before atfempting to draft a measure. + ‘Co-operation of City ‘Council nembers in furthering the league’s ctivities was pledged during the recent election campaign, he said. Under the ordinance, an annual inspection of large heating plants would be made by licensed City inspectors at a nominal fee to the property owner or manufacturer. “The aggregate amount taken in by this manner,” Mr. Johnson said, “adequately would finance our program throughout the year.” It.was. pointed out at the meeting .thet “a prerequisite for such an inarice would be the. addition to ie City Building Commission of at st five men, including an :engineer and four inspectors. » The present personnel: includes J. The pneumonia death rate, he said, was 150 persons for each 100,000 populdtion while in the county it was 119. “Air pollution and bad housing are heavily responsible for this difference in rates,” he said.

CHICAGO, Jan. 12 (U. P.)—Assistant State’s Attorney Julius Sherwin announced today that Arthur Hue, 25, had confessed the slaying of Mrs. Mary Wong, 50, wealthy restaurant owner, whose body was
found Monday in her apartment in
the Chinese section. Evidence had indicated the slaying was the result of a Tong dispute. Mrs. Wong had employed Hue as a delivery boy. He admitted, S8herwin said, that his motive had been robbery and that he had obtained only $18, He said he struck her twice with the heel of a shoe, then choked her, after entering her apartment through a window.
