Times Special LAFAYETTE, Dec. 30.—The aver- , age salary of engineers graduated . from Purdue University between 1922-1927, is $3368, a survey of 847 alumni by Dr. A. A. RAINEY NAMED
Former Franklin = College * President Widely Known In Indianapolis.
Dr. Homer Price Rainey, former president of Franklin College and widely known in Indianapolis, has been named president of the University of Texas. : Dr. Rainey, who has been director of the American Youth Commission in Washington since 1935, was president of Franklin College from 1927 to 1931. A Texan by birth, Dr. Rainey began his education at Austin College in 1919. He was an instructor there until 1922 and from 1924 to 1926 he served as a professor at the University of Oregon. He took the presidency of the Franklin College in 1927 and served until 1931, when he became president of Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa. In 1935 he was appointed director of the Commission at Washington. He is 42 years old. Dr. Rainey’s salary was not announced in dispatches but Dr. Edward Randall, chairman of the Board of Regents, said it will be “considerably more than is paid the football coach,” who receives $15,000 a year.
