- The “grim” business of helping the current year on its way out is one of those self-imposed tasks which local

society is preparing to undertake right merrily. One New Year's Eve party which is to gather around 10 o'clock fomorrow evening at thie home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ruckelshaus will include Messrs. and Mesdames Charles A. Greathouse Jr., Blaine H. Miller Jr., Albert J. Beveridge Jr., Willis Adams Jr., Thomas R. Kackley, Malott. White, Russell Fortune Jr.; Louis McClennen of Cambridge, Mass., and Thomas E. Shea of New York, who are visiting Mr. and Mrs. William Ray Adams; Miss Josephine Madden, Burford Danner, William H. Stafford Jr, James L. Daggett, William Rockwood Jr. and Charles Rockwood; Christopher Sykes and Nelson Kimball of Boston. Mrs. Ruckelshaus will leave Jan. § for two weeks’ visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hall, at their winter home at Palm Beach, Fla. Early in February Mr. and Mrs. Ruckelshaus are to sail for Honolulu. ;

Walker Winslow Pulls Out lee Boats

“There’s ice!” Walker W. Winslow telephoned yesterday from Lake Maxinkyckee, “and I'm putting out the ice boats now.” The news is of paramount interest to Maxinkuckee Yacht Club members who are to leave tomorrow for the New Year’s week-end party at the Maxinkuckee Inn. After dinner and dancing tomorrow evening there’s to be a midnight eggnog party. Mr. and Mrs. Winslow, who are to give a cocktail party at their cottage, “Green Leaves,” tomorrow afternoon, are preparing to make their hospitality elastic. Invitations to Yacht Club members and East Shore cottagers bidding their families, guests and friends to the affair bore the following definitions: “Family: Any person, no matter how remotely removed, whose existence on earth can be charged tc you or your ancestors or to your progeny. “Guests: Limited only to those whom you have chosen for social intercourse during the holidays. : “Friends: Anyone with whom the East Side gang would enjoy association.” : ;

Fidal Yuletide Reunion Is Held By Girl Scouts

A reunion of senior Girl Scout campers from Camp Shérman today at the Little House will conclude a week of city-wide holiday festivities for Scouts. “Mrs. R. O. Jackson, camp reunion chairman, will be hostess, assisted by Misses Mary Klann, Mary Lynn, Jerry Baumgartner, Betty Feasey, Mary Alice Claycombe, Jean Mullins, Doris Tuttle and Jean Jackson, councilors. The series of camp reunions began last Tuesday and a reunion has been held every day. this week. Staff members at Dellwood held their reunion yesterday at the camp. Summer councilors and office’ staff members attended the hot picnic luncheon and hike. Mrs. Charles Voyles' entertained the Brownies yesterday for their first camp reunion.. The hostess was assisted by the Brownie councilors, Mrs. Carl Kistner, Misses Georgiana Smith, Marjorie Glass, Helen Dailey and Betty Sullivan. Hostesses at the Service Unit party on Wednesday were Mrs. Harry B. Custer and Miss Ruth Shannahan. The engagement of Miss Hel en Atkins Taggart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex T. Taggart, and Joseph William Taylor, Rochester, N. Y., was announced . last night at a buffet supper at the home of the bride-to-be’s parents, 9400 Spring Mill Roacl. The wedding date has not been set. Mr. Taylor is the son of Mx. and Mrs. Joseph F. Taylor, Rochester. His parents and grancmother, Mrs. William Drescher, Rochester, attended thie supper and returned last night to Rcchester.
