Governor Approves Plan for College Absorption.

‘* Plans to transform Evansville Col-

tension center offering two years of academic training had been approved today by Governor Townsend. Evansville residents originally

offer a four-year curriculum if it is accepted into the State educational system. The Governor, who gave his approval following a conference with Herman.B. Wells, Indiana University president; Ward G. Biddle, university controller, and Dr. W. D. Gatch, dean of the university's medical school in Indianapolis, pointed out that other Indiana University extension centers offer only two-year studies. Expense to the State of operating the college would be small, the Governor said. If the absorption plan is given final approval, the name of Evansville College would be retained so that $400,000 in endowments would accrue to the college.

BELGIAN STATESMAN DIES BRUSSES, Dec. 27 (U. P.).— Emile Vandervélde, Belgian Social= ist leader and former Cabinet Minister, died today. He was 73.
