~ Christmas Dance at
~ L A.C. This Evening
| N elson and Sylvester J ohnson J r. to Be Hosts at Dinner Before Princeton Show; Dramatic - | Group Presents Mystery Play.
| | | | By VIRGINIA MOORHEAD MANNON Despite occasional casualties necessitating replacements by fresh recruits, the Bachelors Club has presented Ea united front for five years. Just to prove they aren't entirely impervious to feminine wiles, members will give their sixth annual Christmas ball tonight at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. : Principal differenice between the | local organization anf
bachelors’ clubs in other cities is that here matrimony constitutes an automatic forfeit of membership. The New York Bachelors, who are
distinguished by the "red suits they wear to their own parties, are >
required merely to don black after marriage. : ~._ The ball tonight, which is to be a dinner-dance, will be smaller than club events of the past few years. Hosts will be Russell Langsenkamp, president; Louis Rainier, William B. Ansted, Edward Gallahue, Robert Armstrong, Robert Stafford, R. D. Brown Jr., Richard T. Miskimen III, William Ramey, R. Stewart Bailey and Carl Fechtman. ih the out-of-town guests will be Howard Kiser, a member of
the Utica, N. Y., Bachelors’ Club, and Mrs. Kiser.

Supper Dance Follows Murder Drama
Sans curtain arid backdrops, and with English’s stage bare bat for a few carelessly placed “flats” and a sparse assortment of ‘‘props,” the Dramatic Club {ast night presented Austin Goetz’s thrilling play within a play, “Murder in Rehearsal.” Solution of the mystery hinged on the actual point at which the “inner” melodrama began. Egbert Driscoll played the brusque and blundering sheriff; Frank Springer Jr., the viliage idiot; Joseph C. Wallace, the insolent “prop” boy; Prudence Brown, the feminine lead, and Sylvester Johnson Jr., -the “hero.” Others in the cast were Horace F. Hill III, the director whose demise in thee first act failed to prevent his reappearance in the surprise finale; Alice Vonnegut and Jeanette Tarkington, a pair of dressing room stowaways; Henry A. Johnston, the chef; Reily G. Adams, the soda dispenser; Mrs. Adams, the mother; Josephine Mayer, a member of the “company,” and Irving Moxley, the maid. Sons and daughters of members home from college joined their 1bia Club.
