on Child Welfare Laws.

The Commission appointed in pApril by Governor Townsend, has

recommended a more progressive treatment of laws concerning adop-

tion, illegitimacy, agency licensing,

foster care, interstate transportation of children and care of crippled and sick children. The Commission also emphasized the importance of “saving the child’s individuality.” Mr. Marshall pointed out that there are some 83-year-old laws re. maining on the statute books, In the light of changing social conditions he said, there is a need to clarify existing laws, repeal those unnecessary, and write new statutes. The groundwork, he stated, already ha been dene.
