The City diy sold $600,000 worth of bonds to retire 1908 City Hall bonds which mature in a Jump sum on Jan. 1. Three Chicago firms, Lazard Freres & Co, the Boatman’s Nanal Bahk and the Paul H. Davis ®& Co., were the successful bidders.

The. sale carries .an interest rate of] 3% per cent and a premium of 7062.

recommended a more progressive treatment of laws concerning adop-

tion, illegitimacy, agency licensing,

foster care, interstate transportation of children and care of crippled and sick children. The Commission also emphasized the importance of “saving the child’s individuality.” Mr. Marshall pointed out that there are some 83-year-old laws re. maining on the statute books, In the light of changing social conditions he said, there is a need to clarify existing laws, repeal those unnecessary, and write new statutes.
