Local Purchase Urged
Mark Rodenbeck, Assistant State Auto License Bureau head, urged the public to purchase their plates in their home counties so that the counties may take advantage of
~ State fund distribution from the license fee and gasoline tax collections. Distribution is made on the basis of number of car registrations in each county. He said the Bureau anticipated the sale of more than one million tags next year. He said more than half of that number would be sold before Jan. 1. At the same time State Auditor's office registration figures showed that registration of all types of motor vehicles in Indiana up to Dec. 1 totaled 995,257." Last year's registrations for the entire 12 months were 1,029,701, records showed. Of all types of motor vehicles, motorcycle registrations for the first 11 months this year alone topped last year’s total figures. A total of 4543 motorcycles had been registered up to Dec. 1 compared to

of last year. 794,753 Passenger Cars Records showed that 794,753 passenger automobiles were registered at the State House Dec. 1. At the end of last year there were 814,554
registered. The records revealed that up to Dec. 1 this year a total of 126,553 trucks was registered in the State, only 7401 less than were registered at the end of last year. Other motor vehicles included in the registration figures are trailers, gemitrailers, housecars and scooters. State House records also showed that gasoline consumption for the first 10 months of this year had dropped as compared to last year. Indiana motorists burned a total of 500,996,524 gallons of gas up to November this year as compared to 517,564 443 last year, a difference of 7,567,979 gallons. However, gains in amount of gallonage used were shown during January, August and October this year over the same months a year 2go. :

Slow Drivers Are Pet Peeve of Motorists
Hoosier motorists think slowmoving traffic is the bigiest nuisance on the highway today, according to T. A. Dicus, chairman of the State Highway Commission. Other major annoyances for the 3000 drivers who filled out the questionnaire blanks are motorists who don’t dim their lights and those who hog the road. Lesser peeves are reckless drivers, trucks and busses, “junkers,” passing on hills and curves, speeding
