By DANIEL M. KIDNEY ¥ ’ Times Staff Writer WASHINGTON, Dec. 6. — Rep. Louis Ludlow is planning to confer with Senator Borah Ida.) ¥ regarding Senate St or $he - Ludlow War Referendum ‘R¥solu- ¥ tion, he announced today. % For the first time, or Borah indorsed the referendum plan in ¥ newspaper interviews and Mr. Ludlow intends to learn what he meant |} by saying he would like to revamp it and put it into “practical form,” the Hoosier said. % “I certainly welcome the support of Senator Borah,” Mr. Ludlow as- |} serted. “He is a great national fig- % ure and ranking member and former chairman of the Senate For-. ¥ eign Relations Committee. a “Such a powerful person should h.# be a great aid for passage of the ¥ FV’ war referendum resolution in the ¥ next Congress. I intend to reintroduce it at once and would like i any suggestion from Senator Borah ¥ in regard to changes in the present i wording. Finds ‘Deep Interest’ i “As I understand it, Senator Borah feels, as I do, that a combination of strong national defense and a referendum on participation in foreign wars are the best aids 5 for peace in America today.” Senator Borah was quoted on the ¥ war referendum -as follows: { “It is my: opinion that, stong| with the matter of huge armaments, will go the Ludlow amendment on war referenda. The people are beginning to- get deeply interested in i that again because of the constant |ff talk of war. “If this centralization of powers § as to war and armaments. (with the constant burdening of the people
as a consequence) is to ‘continue, I 5
would undertake to put the Ludlow amendment in practical’ form and ¥ support it. “I don’t think the people of the - United States want their President, to have the power to pursue such a course of bluffing and trading as. is being pursued by the heads
8 of European powers.”
