Times Special BLOOMINGTON, Dec. 2.—Albert L. Higdon of Scottsburg is the new president of the Indiana University senior class, school officials, announced today. Ruth Smith of Bloomington was named vice president. :
Mr. Higdon and Miss Smith, with 38 other senior officers and committee members, were selected on a merit system adopted at the University four years ago. Under the merit plan, the highest ranking man student, rated according to grades and campus activities, automatically becomes president. The vice president post goes to the highest ranking woman student. Other officers named were Rosemary Redens, New Albany, secretary, and Thomas Buck, Star City, treasurer. ;
