CHICAGO, Dec. 1 (U. P)— Wheat prices lost part of early gains but the market undertone remained firm on the Board of Trade today, reflecting strength at Liverpool. Corn ruled strong. At the end of the first hour wheat was up % to 3 cent, corn up % to 14 cent, and -oats unchanged to % cent higher. Offerings increased on the initial upturn in wheat, and best prices were not maintained, but the market held above previous closing lev-

December wheat closed 17% cents higher, and May 1 cent up, was encouraging. Absence of deliveries wheat abroad. Winnipeg wheat was irregular in the first hour. . Export. business was confined to small lots of Manitobas worked from the Pacific. Coast. A total of 2,623,000 bushels of wheat were téndered on Chicago Decembér wheat contracts today. Changing operations between December and May contracts were again prominent. Fair export business, light country offerings, and strength in the Argentine corn market were constructive ‘factors in the advance of local Export sales to the

The Secretary of Labor, however, set a minimum wage of 42.5 cents an hour. “In a few cases, ” the Conference Board stated, “the minimum wage selected was based on an agreement between industry and labor, and for the cement industry the basic minimum rates paid for common labor were accepted by the Public Contracts Board.
