Kokomo, Anderson, Greencastle and Jeffersonville charged through to impressive victories last night as Indiana’s prep conference cage season opened. The rangy Kokomo Kats, led by
big Chet Gabriel, 6 foot 10 inch cen-,

Archie Chadd’s Anderson Indians took their second victory of the season, against a North Central foe, Marion, 21 to 14. Gibbons led the Indians’ slow-breaking type of play with eight points. Greencastle and Franklin shot to a tie in the South Central conference standings with two wins apiece, the Cubs downing Greensburg, 32 to 21, and Franklin pushing over Shelbyville, 32 to 22. It was the fourth. straight victory for the Cubs and marked them as one of the leading quintets in the state.

Krieger May Defend Title Next Year
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 24 (U. P.).— Manager Hymie Caplan said yesterday that Solly Krieger, set up by the National Boxing Association as the world middleweight champion, probably will make his first title defense at Seattle early next year. Caplan, whose fighter the New York three-man boxing board does not recognize, said he has been offered a $25,000 guarantee by Nate Druxman, Seattle promoter. His announcement came on the heels of the New York Commission’s “final decision” to recognize Fred Apostoli, winner Monday night over Young Corbett, III, as the middleweight champion, and while Krieger trained Jor a 12-round overweight match here tomorrow against Billy Conn. i
