P.) —The Treasury reported today that = WELLL becoming more numerous and that they are paying - more in Federal taxes than ever before. > An analysis of 5,413,499 individual income tax returns filed during 1937 showed that 61 persons reported net incomes of more than one * million dollars during the calendar year 1936. number reporting in this category since 1931. £ Two Navy fliers were killed today in the crash of a big patrol bomber,
as it returned from night practice landings. Five others were injured, one critically. Lieut. P. H. Ashworth and Aviation Cadet J. W. Beam, pilot and co-pilot, respectively, were trapped in the cockpit and died when the flying boat smashed into a Pearl Harbor dock.

Star Witness Admits Smoking Marijuana, Lying.
NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (U. P.). — The Government’s case against three alleged Nazi spies suffered a. jolt today when Guenther Rumrich, its star witness, admitted that he formerly smoked marijuana and lied for the fun of it. Rumrich, an Army deserter, pleads ed guilty to .espionage and testified fora week against his three codefendants, charging that they were involved in a plot, directed by the German Intelligence Service, to steal United States military and defense secrets. Nnder cross-examination by Benjamin Matthews, attorneys for Erich -Glaser, one of the three defendants, Rumrich said he had kept a can of rijuang in his apartment, that he rad smoked the narcotic while in ie Army in Panama.

Detours have been lifted from Road 32 east of Muncie and Road
60 northwest of Road 111, and a new detour established on Road 36 west of Indianapolis, the State Highway Commission reported today. On the Road 36 detour, passenger cars and trucks less than 10 feet in height are being routed over Road 40 and a county gravel road, while trucks more than 10 feet high are routed by Road 40 and the Marion County line road.
