Notre Dame Sweeps to Top Of Williamson Ratings as Mk - Panthers Drop to Twelfth | | i] & Camegie Yooh, Alabama and Holy Cross Rise to First Ten;

| | System Picked Purdue Over Ohio State, Western to Beat Butler and DePauw Against Earlham.

ESDAY, NOV. §,

By PAUL B. WILLIAMSON |

The topsy-turvy week-end of little Davids knocking over big Goliaths gave the Williamson System its lowest rating in six seasons of forecasting games. The over-all rating for the week was 80 per cent and 81.1 per c¢ént not counting upsetting ties. : Out of that week-end Notre Dame, picked in a preseason forecast by the System as a likely pennant winner, emerged at the top of the hational list. The Irish’s blanking of the Navy, 15-0, gave them an earned rating of 97.5. Pitt, leader for weeks, was crowded out of the leading 10 by undefeated teams or squads with stronger over-all schedules to date. Pitt's victor, Carnegie Tech, could rate no better than sixth place because of little-credited victories over Davis-EIKins, Wittenberg and Akron. The Panthers tumbed to 12th place below Southern California. ++ The ranking 10 with their ratings are: = 1. NotreDame . ......... 99.3 6. Carnegie Tech ........ 93.9 2. Texas Christian ...... 96.8 7.
