Building at the Indiana State Fair

Ground Nov. 19, opening date for the local Automobile Show. — C. O. Warnock, Auto Show director, said all spaces at the building had been called for and that each dealer would exhibit several models. At the same time, Mr. Warnock announced that Alfredo Pierce, personal representative of Gen. Federico Montes, Republic of Mexico, wiil attend the show, which this year is to be decorated in a Mexican motif. The General, whose full title is Gen. de Brigada, Jefe de la Policia del Distrito Federal, was invited to attend but informed Show officials that he would not be able to be here.

Singers on Program

The Mariachis, a group of Mexican singers and musicians, will entertain, Mr. Warnock said he received the approval of President Lazaro Cardenas, through Gen. Montes, for their appearance in Indianapolis. Other Mexican talent to be featured includes Pedro Noriga’s Mexican orchestra with Conchita, vocalist, the Trio Mixteco and Trio Gavilances, regional singers. Various governmental bureaus are working with Mr. Warnock in arranging the appearance of native Mexican craftsmen who will appear here, he said. A representative of the Mexican

Automobile Association is also to attend the annual motor display.

Checks for Winter Driving Urged ’

Check your windshield wiper, defroster, tire chains, brakes, lights, anti-freeze solution for winter driving, is the warning T. A. Dicus, chairman of the State Highway Commission, gave today to'.Indiana motorists. The Highway Commission has taken advantage of the fine weather of the past few weeks to prepare for winter operations and points out that motorists should do the same. Driving precautions suggested by Mr. Dicus are: Apply brakes sooner than in dry weather, don’t depend on your horn, open the windows occasionally, travel slowly if there is ice or snow on the road, take curves slowly and don’t pass on hills or curves, keep the windshield clean, and give pedestrians plently of room.

G. M. Truck Sales Campaign Planned

Sales managers for the General Motors Truck and Coach Division returned to their districts today with plans for the 1939 sales campaign. Plans for the coming year were mapped at a meeting of 135 dealers and associates at the Hotel Severin, Wednesday. The meeting was in charge of Dolph Baur, Cincinnati, zone man-

ager, and G. G. Bennett, Indianapolis district representative. W. A. Casey, central U. S. regional manager for the division, outlined the program and voiced optimism over the automobile outlook for the winter and spring. Dealers from Indiana, eastern Illinois and northern Kentucky attended.

Engineers to Discuss Auto ‘Superfinish’ “Superfinish — What It Is and How It Is Obtained” will be the principal subject for discussion at the preshow meeting of the Indiana section, Society of Automotive Engineers, at the Hotel Antlers Thursday night, Nov. 10.

Max M. Roensch, power plant development engineer, and A. M. Swigert, in charge of production engineering research for the Chrysler Corp., Detroit, will explain the development and practical effect of “Superfinish,” which was conceived and engineered under the leadership of D.
