LAUREL JURORS ARE DISMISSED

Comedian to Yo honsirs in Court Today to Hear New Trial Date.

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 28 (U. P.).— Stan Laurel, movie comedian, was to appear in court today to hear a new date set for his trial on charges of drunken driving. Yesterday a jury of nine women and three men that had deliberated for'23 hours was dismissed by Judge William R. McKay. The jurors reported that they were deadlocked eight to four for - acquittal of the comedian and the foreman said that there was no chance of agreement. The usually sad-faced comedian smiled broadly when he heard that the jury had disagreed. George H. Shank, the foreman, said the jurors debated long and heatedly on Mr. Laurel's story that he was- not intoxicated, but emotionally upset after a quarrel with his Russian wife, Illiana.

BRITISH HATRED OF RUSSIA DESCRIBED

Hatred of Russia and communism has dominated British diplomacy in the last six years, Dr. William T. Morgan of the Indiana University history department said last night at the I. U. Extension Center. = Dr. Morgah’s lecture, the second in a series on ‘Europe Today” being given at the Ceriter this semester by members of the history department, was on “The Two Dictators (Chamberlain and Hitler) at Work.” The British also fear that if they took up arms against fascism in Italy, Germany or Spain, they would cause the three to relapse into gommunism, - Dr. Morgan asserted.

ROME, Oct. 28 (U. P.).—Insects cause the destruction of 1,500,600,000 lire in farm products of Italy anmually, according to Prof. Filippo Silvestri of the Agrarian Institute at Protici, near Naples. In view of Italy’s self-sufficiency campaign, Prof. Silvestri said. means are being studied to reduce the figure.

Separate your shoulders from your hips as far as possible. Flatten the hollow in your back by rolling your pelvis downward and backward. Keep your shoulders high and square.

PLANS DRAFTED FOR 1939 POULTRY SHOW

NEW CASTLE, Oct. 28 (U. P.).— Plans started today for the annual Eastern Indiana Poultry Show to be held in the new armory here early in January. - Many bird fanciers have inquired about the event, which is one cf the few in the Midwest that have not been cancelled. Tentative dates for the show are set for Jan. 4 to 7.
