This is quite a “week for anniversaries. Last night Fred Allen began. his seventh year of broadcasting and tonight Rudy Vallee starts his tenth. For the occasion, Rudy, the eminent talent discoverer, will have as a guest the man who “discovered” him, He is Vincent Lopez, who gave Rudy a job playing saxophone a dozen years ago. The Vallee hour started in October, 1029, as an hour of straight dance music. It still retains the same Thursday spot at 7 p. m., and the same network, NBC-Red. In the passing years the public address microphone has replaced the megaphone, and jokes about crooners have vanished. But Rudy lingers on; probably because he inaugurated a variety hour in 1932, and still has one of the best in the business,

Rudy is the man who introduced Joe Penner, Bob Burns, Bergen and McCarthy, Frank Fay and Tommy Riggs to network listeners. He also gave first radio jobs to Walter O'Keefe, Joe Cook and Lou Holtz, who will be present tonight.
