The Parade of the Glomin Feathers .
® Round the friendly evenly campfire Indians spun their tales of valor. As : each brave spoke, his chief came forward and presented him a feather; token
of appreciation for his service to the tribe. From this custom came our saying,
\
“It's a feather in your cap!” A heaping handful of years have passed since Indians trod these Hoosier
trails. But Indianapolis of today borrows from the Red Man's custom, and ap-
propriately presents the flaming feather to each good citizen; symbol of appreciation for his valued contribution in preserving and in strengthening her
modern civic sinews.

@ Your Community Fund has asked the people of Tndianapolls for $711,633. This Is the minimum required to sustain the 37 service ch character-building agencies comprising the Fund. It is a reasonable goal—nearly 25 per cent LESS than this community has actually raised i in an earlier era. Yet, with less x money in their budgets, the Fund agencies are obliged ‘to do more work. Demands upon them right now are at least as great as ever before. Thus every dollar is URGENTLY needed. As these paragraphs are written, better than 70 per cent of the required sum has been pledged. There remains only that last hurdle—the final 30 per cent that means success or failure. With YOUR help—with your ACTIVE Suppor three thousand Community Fund workers, who give voluntarily of their time, WILL reach their goal. Remember that this is not a haphazard solicitation for a single “charity.” It is not a “cause” to which you might ordinarily give a few dollars, with the feeling that you Wore “doing your share.” Itis an ANNUAL campaign to underwrite A FULL YEAR'S PROGRAM for THIRTY-SEVEN selected and carefully supervised Indianapolis institutions. Give with this thought clearly in mind. And give on an ANNUAL basis. Don't forget that your gift must be pro-rated among ALL these agencies, and that it must cover twelve aclive months of service. | ” If you have not yet made your subscription to the Community Fund—or if you possibly can INCREASE your pledge— a telephone call to Rlley 2406 will be deeply appreciated. Thisis a goal- making year. Other communities throughout the country are reporting enccessial campaigns. Indiem“apolis, with a comparatively low per capita guoN, CAN reach the goal that has been set if each good citizen does his or her part in the few days that remain. Come on, Indianapolis! Let's put it OVER!
