“A contract for printing 516,927 paper ballots for the Nov. 8 election was awarded today to the Indiangpolis Printing Co. by the County Election Commissioners on a bid of $2210. Only one bid was submitted. These paper ballots will be used in addition to voting machines in all precincts. ‘Of the total, 231,657 will be printed for. School Board candidates. County Election - Commissioners yesterday voted to have them printed after the Citizens’ School Committee pro-
tested an earlier proposal that they!
be ‘eliminated as an economy measure because the five candidates are unopposed. -- - : ‘Other paper ballots: to be used in all City precincts include 267,490 for township candidates. There is no room on the machines for them. 50,000 Extras Ordered -~A total of 50,000 ballots bearing the names of County candidates will be printed for use in case of a breakdown in any of the machines. Also 50,000 City ballots will be printed for emergency use. No paper ballots: will be used in any of the ‘rural precincts. About 5000 sample ballots will be printed for use at the polls.

The 1939-40 edition of Dreher’s Simplex Street Guide will go on sale tomorrow, it was announced today. The latest edition contains, according to its publishers, D. PF. Dreher & Co. revised motorist, streetcar and bus guides designed to show how to locate, by using any of the three methods of travel, any house in the city. _ The location of the city’s 800 apartment buildings, 355 public buildings’ and halls, hospitals, churches. and benevolent. institutions.is shown in the Guide. The Guide has been published biennially since 1910.
TIME MARCHES ON! CLOCK GIVES ALARM
.. WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (U. P.)— Time waited today for a burglar. For two months Myron Fitzhugh’s cigar store has. been robbed several times between .midnight and dawn, apparently by. the same man. His method included the cutting of electric wires, extinguishing the night burglar light inside. Two policemen on the midnight scout éar of No. 1 Precinct noticed after several of the burglaries that the electric clock in front of the ‘store. was stopped whenever there ‘was _a robbery. This morning they passed the stare. at 2:15 a. m., but noted that the store’s clock said 2:05, Bringing the burglar to headquarters, the sergeant observed: “Time waits for no man except taybe a burglar.”
