‘BOARD REPORTS NUTRITION AIDS

New Bulletin Says Good Health Depends on Proper Food. : Good health Bends on the supply of proper food nutrients and

the ability of the body to use these food nutrients for nutrition of the

ported -today in a bulletin: entitled “What Is Nutrition?” The bulletin pointed out that the term nutrition includes all the processes concerned with supplying proper food nutrients to every cell in the body in order that each cell may do its work efficiently. “This work includes the chewing of food, its digestion in the stomach and the intestines, then its absorption into the blood and lymph streams,” the bulletin stated. “The lungs must pick up sufficient oxygen. . The heart must pump the oxygen and the food supply to every cell in the body where the oxygen and the proper elements from the food combine to supply energy to the body and to repair worn-out body cells. “In the case of children there is also the extra burden of building

matter. “Each and every. organ must be well nourished in order that this chain of processes may £0 On smoothly. Each organ must have the proper tools with which to work. If the blood-forming organs do not receive enough iron from the food from which to build normal red blood cells, the oxygen from the lungs cannot be carried to the cells of the body in sufficient amounts. “If there is not sufficient amount of calcium, phosphorus and vitamins in the food eaten, the teeth and bones are not well built. * If there is not enough food being eaten so that a reserve may be stored as body fat and form a padding for the nerves, muscles and internal organs, the body is considered undernourished.”
