‘Hedge Selling Depresses Corn Market; Oats Off 15 Cent.
CHICAGO, Sept. 29. (U.P)— Wheat prices fluctuated in a narrow range in nervous trading on the Chicago Board of Trade today. The market undertone was easier in sympathy with Liverpool and Winnipeg. At the end of the first hour of trading wheat was off 3% cent. Corn was off ls cent lower, Buying by export houses and some short covering gave the mar-
level. Weakness at Liverpool wheat closed 2% to 33% cents lower, and the decline at Winnipeg which | forced prices off more than a cent { were bearish influences in the local market. | Most traders were inclined to play
la waiting game pending further de-!
velopments in the European crisis. It was announced that the Federal Surplus Commodities Corp. {will purchase wheat in the spring wheat area from farmers eligible Purchases will be at the o loan rate, Hedge selling against purchases! {to arrive depressed the corn market. { Bookings to arrive overnight and tearly today were placed around 340.{000 bushels, Receipts Chicago today were placed at 365 cars.
