Text of Czech Rejection Note
LONDON. Sept. 27 (U. P.).—Text of the Czechoslovak note rejecting the German memorandum. dated Sept. 25, and handed to Viscount Halifax. British Foreign Minister, by Jan Masaryk, Czech Minister 0 London, follows: Sir: My Government instructed me just now, in view of the fact that the French statesmen are not arriving in London today, to bring 10 His Majesty's Government notice the following message without delay The Czechoslovak people have shown unique discipline and self re-
accept full responsibility for their previous decisions, and the decision to accept the stern terms of the socalled Anglo-French plan. Yesterday, after the return of Mr. Chamberlain from Godesberg, the new proposition was nanded by His Majesty's Minister to my Government with the additional information that His Majesty's Government was acting solely as intermediary; neither advising nor pressing my Government in any Way Mr. Krofta (Czech Foreign Min-
{ister Kamil Krofta), in receiving
the plan from the hands of His Majesty's Minister to Praha, assured him that the Government of

ers, especiaily Mr. Benes (President Eduard Benes) Accepted Under Duress His Majesty's and the French Governments are very well aware that we agreed, under the most severe pressure, to the so-called Anglo-French pian ceding parts of Czechoslovakia. We accepted this plan under extreme duress. We had not even the time to make any representations about its many unworkable features. Nevertheless, we accepted it because we understood it was the end of demands to bt made upon us, because it followed that from Anglo-French pressure these two powers would accept re-
sponsibility for our reduced frontiers and would guarantee us their sup-|
port in the event of our being felonously attacked. The vulgar campaign continued. Whil Mr. Chamberlain (Prime Minister Chamberlain of Britain) was at Godesberg, the following message was received by my Government from His Majesty's and French representatives at Praha: We have agreed with the French Government that the Government of Czechoslovakia be informed that the French and British Governments cannot continue to take the responsibility of advising them not to mobilize.
Accepts Responsibility My new Government, headed by
My Government now has studied the document and the map. It is a de facto ultimatum of the sort usually presented to a vanquished nation. It was & proposition to a sovereign state which has shown the greatest possible readiness to make sacrifices for the appeasement of Europe. Not the smallest trace of readiness for sacrifices has as yet been manifested by the ministers of Herr Hitler's Government. ‘Amazed at Contents’
My Government was amazed at the contents of the memorandum The proposals go far beyond what we agreed to in the so-called AngloFrench plan. They deprive us of
