Dancing, Golfing, Polo And Swimming All on Week-End’s Program

Stay-at-Homes Find Active Stretch Ahead; Vacation Season Draws Near Close With Many Returning From Long Trips.

ANCES under the stars, a polo match, swimming meets and golf tournaments are included in the programs arranged for today, tomorrow and next week by

Indianapolis stay-at-homes.

The younger set at the Indianapolis Country Club will attend a junior dance tonight arranged by Lucius O. Hamilton and Miss Marilyn Whitaker. The first round of the annual club golf championship will end tomorrow. It began Aug. 2. Another of the dances on the terrace will be held Aug. 20 and plans already are being made for the annual “Labor Day Hop.” Women members have “luncheon bridge” written under Aug. 24 of their date books. . William H. Wells is arrangements chairman.

A mixed two-ball foursome and swimming will attract members of Woodstock Club tomorrow. A special dinner has been arranged for tomorrow night for Highland Golf and Country Club members. On Monday Hillcrest Country Club swimmers are to vie with the Meridian Hills members at Meridian Hills. Woodstock will meet Highland at Highiand at 2 p. m. Monday. The interclub competition has been set for Aug. 22.

ISS MARY WRIGHT, Rock Island, Ill, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Alvin S. Lockard and Dr. and Mrs. Hamilton Row. John Eaglesfield is visiting his .daughter, Jane, at Pinewood Camp, Mich, and other Indianapolis residents vacationing in the camp’s vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Roberts are expected home tomorrow after a stay at Bay View, Mich. Other returning residents include Mrs. Lafayette Page, who is now at her home on Woodstock Drive, after an extended trip to the East and a visit in Kentucky. Mrs. Robert Tyndall is home after a vacation jaunt to Ironton, Mich., and Miss Harriet Patterson, daughter of- Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Patterson, has returned from Lake Arrowhead, Cal, where she was the guest of a Briarcliff Junior College classmate, Miss Ethel Hamilton. Mrs. Roy Elder Adams will return the first of the week from Lake Wawasee where she has spent the summer at the Adams cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alexander Lemcke left today for Lake Maxinkuckee where they will spend the week-end with Mr. Lemcke’s sister, Mrs. Russel? Fortune, and Mr. Fortune. Mr. and Mrs. Fortune plan to return here next month.

RS. LOUIS BEST has gone to her home in Orlando, Fla., after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vonnegut, Golden Hill. Dr. and Mrs. James Murray, Baltimore, will arrive in a few days to he the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Fortune Jr. Mrs. Fortune is Dr. Murray’s sister. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sheerin are on a trip to Ontario. Mrs. James J. Genung and Miss Phoebe Lewis are in Mexico. Among the Indianapolis visitors in New York are Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Riddle and Mr. and Mrs. John Riddle. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Thompson are staying at the Plaza Hotel, New York, before returning here. They arrived Thursday on the S. S.
