Bigger Crowd.

The Indianapolis auto show is going Mexican this year. The setting and program for the annual showing of new models at the Fair Grounds, Nov. 19 to 26, will be Mexican. Ideas, and probably talent, will be imported from Meixco. > C. O. Warnock, president of the Indianapolis Auto Trades Association, is leaving for Mexico City next week personally to get his material. - He Mr. Warnock has traveled extensively in Mexico for more than 20 years and knows the country intimately. His hobby is archeology and he has spent nearly a gaurtercentury digging in Mexican ruins. His private collection of Mexican

archeology pieces is one of the finest |-

in the U. S., he says. Explaining how the association happened upon a Mexican motif for the show, Mr. Warnock said Mexico is a popular tourist land in the public eye, and “we picked it to get away from the usual thing.”

Expect Bigger Crowd

He thinks the Mexican idea will pull a bigger crowd than last year’s, which was lured to the show with the aid of Rubinoff, the violinist, and Gray Gordon’s orchestra. There’ll be about 45 exhibitors, and girls in Mexican costume. Mr. Warnock said he would draw the line at putting salesmen in costume, however. He won’t even hint what he’s going after, till he “knows he can get it.” He promised, however, that it will be good. “I'm in contact with people in Mexico,” Mr. Warnock said. “I'll have more to tell you when I get back about Sept. 1. ! Other association directors in charge of the auto show are Joseph Block, J. B. Hanchett, Al Jones, Robert Johnson, Roy Hickman, Mort Martin, Carl Wallerich and O. J. Litzelman.

Stoops Urges Earlier Weed Cutting

Weeds along rural highways should be cut by July 1 for greater safety, instead of by Sept. 1, as now required by law, Todd Stoops, Hoosier Motor Club secretary-manager, pointed out today in announcing the club will seek modification of the law.

Explaining that the change will be |

asked at the next session of the Legislature, Mr. Stoops said: “The present law regarding weed cutting was enacted in 1915 , . . before paved roads permitted the high speeds now attained by automobiles. The law states that all land owners along highways shall cut weeds which obstruct the view of any highway. “But the law gives the land owner from June 15 to Sept. 1 to perform this task. Cities, as a rule, require weed cutting to be done by July 1 and the Hoosier Motor Club be-

Vance Page, center, the former Indian pitcher who last week was sold to the Chicago Cubs, is the owner of a new Buick sedan, the

lieves a State law should be enacted Tequiring weeds to be cut on that date in cities, villages and rural sections.”

Buick Auto Sales Steadily Advancing

General Motors. Domestic deliveries of Buick cars the second 10 days of the month totaled 4162 cars, compared with 4025 in the second 10 days in June and 3394 in the first 10 days in July, Mr. Hufstader said. This was a gain of 3.4 per cent over June and 22.6 per cent over the first 10 days of July.

Resist Normal Decline

- Sales resisted the normal seasonal decline. Cumulative figures show that Buick delivered 7556 cars the first 20 days of July, compared with

8087 the first 20 days of June, a decline of 6.5 per cent, compared to a normal seasonal decline for the period of 12.4 per cent. Buick dealers sold 18,285 used cars during the period, better than the 18,252 sold in the same period in June.
