INDIANA ScHoOL | BUILDING PLANS

DELAYEDB BYPWA

Program. Includes Work at Indiana. U. and Ball" State. College.

A $1,613,504, construction program for the State educational institutions is being delayed, State officials reported today, because of PWA regulations dealing with matching funds. This - program, which was- started ‘before the special session of the Legislature appropriated money for general institutional and educational building - projects, includes $893,504 for a business administration building and physical science building at Indiana University. It also calls for a -$360,000 fine arts and commercial building at the Indiana State Teachers College at Terre Haute and expenditure of an identical amount of money for improvements at the Ball State Teachers College, Muncie.

$852,999 to Teachers Colleges By terms -of the appropriation made by the Legislature an additional $852,999 construction program also is to: be carried out at Ball State and Indiana State Teachers Colleges.

These projects are expected to be completed by Sept. 1, 1939. ‘Before it will pay 45 per cent of the $1,613,504 program, PWA has demanded. that State matching funds be placed in the State Treasury, State Budget Director Edward Brennan said.

Raised hy Property Tax “State funds for this group of

. projects are being raised by a 2-

cent state property tax levy. Some

of this levy is being collected this ||

year, some of the collections will not begin until next year, he said. Under the program approved by the Legislature, the State is to pay 30 per cent of the cost, schools: 25 per cent and PWA is expected .to pay 45 per cent of the cost.
