CONTINUE SAME POLICY ON FAIR GOVERNOR ASKS

Exhibition Always Free From Politics, He Emphasizes.

Governor Townsend today had gone on record in favor of continuing nonpartisan administration and use of the State Fair Grounds. Speaking to business leaders at a luncheon in the Columbia Club yesterday, the Governor said: “The State Fair is one institution that never has been made a political football despite changes in State Administration.” Reviewing the history of the State Fair, he emphasized that it is not only an industrial and agricultural exhibit but an educational institution. Fair Appreciated The luncheon, arranged by the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, was the last of a series of

luncheon meetings throughout the State for promotion of the fair.

rigan. Heading into Northern Canada to seek a job, McCarthy climbed into an empty freight car at Montreal. He was locked into the car while asleep and three days later, when the car was opened, McCarthy found himself in Port Huron, Mich., in the hands of Federal immigration agents. “By golly, I thought I was at | Hudson Bay,” he told Federal Judge i Edward Moinet. “I must have gone the wrong way.” His story was unconvincing to the court, however, and he was convicted of entering the states illegally. Sentence was deferred while his background was investigated.
