steady trade here today, according to the Bureau of Agricultural Eco1.omics. Around 6000 hogs cleared in a fairly active trade, with the top of $10.05 remaining on 200 to 210pound averages. Packing sows likewise showed no change, most heavies clearing from $6.50 to $6.75, with extremely rough heavyweights occasionally as low as $6. Mediumweight and light sows | moved from $7 to $8, with a few | smooth lights under 300 pounds up to $8.25. Stags bulked at $6 to $6.50. Receipts estimated at 700 cattle included several cars of direct and through stockers and feeders and approximately six cars of steers bought to arrive, leaving the salable { supply very limited. However, several lots of plain and medium grass steers were carried over from the week's previous dull market on these. . Steer Top Goes Up
The year's steer top to date was exceeded when long-fed 1204 and 1211-pound beeves scored $12.50 to New York Killers. The trade on | other claSses of | very draggy and the outlet for grassy descriptions of all classes is extremely narrow. Lightweight cows ruled weak while heavy fat | cows and cutter grades remained | unchanged. Vealers cleared in a strong trade with the top of $9 paid freely and a popular figure on many top good and choice lots. Fat lambs cashed on a steady basis. Good and choice grade ewe and wether lambs bulked at $8 to $8.50 with the top at $8.50. Actually there was some strength to the market as buyers were unable to sort as deeply as as yesterday.

| WASHINGTON, July 21 (U.
