Excess Balances Highest Since August, 1936, Banks Report.
WASHINGTON, July 8 (U. P.).— Excess reserve balances of Federal Reserve member banks rose 90 millions in the week ended July 6 to a further new high since August, 1936, at $2,900,000,000, the weekly condidition statement revealed today.
Actual reserves increased 33 mil- | | lions to a total of $8.974,000,000,
the 57 millions discrepancy between surplus and required reserves indicating a sharp decline in deposit items not included in the statement. Treasury deposits with Federal | Reserve Banks were reported at 770 millions, off 94 millions from preceding week, while deposits and other Federal accounts fell eight millions.
