By VIRGINIA MOORHEAD MANNON Maybe it is all mental—keeping cool with the mercury when it hovers in the upper brackets—but to stay at home and like it calls for especially fine philosophy when friends are leaving daily for cool and distant climes, Just to focus attention on some of the more pleasant summer time possibilities we offer a few random notes on who is doing what.
i Joining the gay’ throngs vacationing abroad are Mr. and Mrs. Alex Vonnegut who are to sail next Saturday on the Bremen. They are to spend the summer in Cannes and are to visit in Germany before returning in November. Mr and Mrs. William H. Coleman, who are visiting relatives in the East, are to go to their cottage at Wequetonsing, Mich. in about 10 days to spend the summer. Mrs. John W. Kern and Mrs. John M. Shaw are to leave next Saturday by auto for a month's Provincetown, R. I and Mrs. Thomas G. Sinclair and their daughter, Harriet, son, Robert, are to leave Thursday for Higgins Lake, Mich. Robert 8S. Sinclair, Miss Elsie Sinclair and Miss Mary Jane to join them at their summer cottage Friday when Mrs. irs s John Bennett of Washington, D. C, also is to arrive. Miss Is engagement to Mr. Bennett was announced on Christmas Day Mrs. Sinclair's other son, F. Douglass Bennett of New York, is to join the family July 8 and Mrs. Thomas Sinclair's father, Gilbert 8S. Loomis of Jackson, Mich. is to arrive July 4 for a two weeks’ visit, z Miss Anne Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Elliott, is in the East for two weeks, visiting Miss Carol Fulsom, Lewellyn Park, N. Y, and Miss Katharine Bowman, East River, Conn, who are former Wells College classmates. Miss Jean Elliott is to leave today to spend the summer at Ecole Champlain, the French camp at Ferrisburg, Vt. Shubrick Kothe who visited friends at Cape May, N. J, and Mt. Pocano, Pa, en route home from Harvard University, is here to spend the summer with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kothe, tHe has had as his guests two Harvard classmates, William Humes of Harrisburg, Fa, and Marion Seevers of San Francisco. Mr, Seevers left yesterday for California and Mr. Humes is to remain for a short Herman Kothe Jr. is to go to Culver Monday where he is to attend the Culver Military Academy summer school. Mrs. Guy Smith of Bloomfield Hills, Mich, and her young daughters, Anna Louise and Kitty, are visiting her mother, Mrs. Carl Vernon Griffith, at the Marott Hotel. Mrs. Douglas Pollock Johnson of Norfolk, Va. and her small daughter, Diane, have arrived to spend the summer at the Marott with her mother, Mrs. Stanley M. Timberlake Miss Judith Preston, daughter of Mrs. F. Allison Preston, is to entertain at dinner this evening for a group of her Wells College classmates who later are to go to Woodstock Club to dance. Among the guests are to be Miss Anne Horr, of East Orange, N. J, and Miss Dorothy Hume of St. Louis, who are visiting Miss Margaret Wohlgemuth, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Shea are to spend the week-end with Mrs. Shea's mother, Mrs. Reily C. Adams, at her cottage at Lake Wawasee Mr. and Mrs. Shea's daughters, Martha and Sara Tyce, who accompanied them, are to spend the summer with Mrs. Adams. Mrs. William Allen Moore has been visiting Mrs. Carlos Recker at her cottage at Lake Wawasee. Mrs. James S. Rogan has returned from a two weeks’ visit with her sisters, the Misses Dorothy and Mary Easley, in Lincoln, Neb. Mr, and Mrs. Barrett Woodsmall, formerly of Indianapolis, who have been the guests of Mrs. Woodsmall's sister, Mrs. Carl W. Piel, and Mr. Piel, have returned to their home at Chicago. Mrs. Kinnear's aqua alencon lace frock will be accented with gardenias and sweetheart roses. Following the ceremony a reception will be held at the home of the bride's parents, 5685 Washington Blvd. The bridal couple and wedding party will receive before the mantel in the living room. The house will be decorated throughout with painted daisies and summer flowers and the stairway will be covered with asparagus plumosus greens. Ferns and sweetheart roses will surround the three-tiered wedding cake. Mrs. Ramey will be assisted in the dining room by Miss Belle Ramey, Mrs. Lawrence Sheri dan, Mrs. Richard Hadde and Mrs. Pierson Harrington. Miss Mary Frances Stair, harpist, will play.

Miss Ramey's traveling ensemble will be a navy and white printed crepe worn under a navy crepe coat, tying at the waist and with a drape of the print down the front. Her matching accessories will be accented with a huge navy felt cartwheel hat and two white orchids. The couple will be at home July 1 at the Marott Hotel following a wedding trip to the Bast. The bride attended DePauw University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and Mr. Kinnear was graduated at Ohio State University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

from Montreal on the S. S. Lady Somers on a cruise to the Bahama Islands, Jamaica and Bermuda. The Rev. and Mrs. George S. Southworth will sail July 1 from Quebec on the S. S. Empress of Australia for Southampton, England. The Rev. Mr. Southworth is rector of the Advent Episcopal Church. He will speak July 24 at Immanuel Church, Streatham London, under the auspices of the Coun= cil on Interchange of Preachers and Speakers between the Churches of Great Britain and America. They expect to return early in August, Evans Harrell and George J. Mayer II will leave tomorrow for Culver Military Academy, where they will attend the summer school woodcraft division. Shiel-Hardesty Wedding Held Here at St. Joan of Arc Church
A profusion of Easter lilies and pink gladioli provided an attractive background for the marriage of Miss Gertrude Hardesty and Roger R. Shiel at 9 a. m, this morning.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Maurice O'Connor officiated at the St. Joan of Are Catholic Church, The bride is a daughter of Mrs. J. C. Hardesty and Mr. Shiel is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Shiel. Marie Filcer, organist, played bridal airs during the ceremony. The bride wore a bouffant gown of embroidered net over net with a bolero and puff sleeves. Her tiered veil fell from a halo of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of gardenias and white roses. Miss Louise Hardesty was her sister's only attendant. Her frock was blush pink net piped in satin with a fitted bodice and square neck. Her flowers were blue cornflowers and delphinium. She wore a large leghorn hat trimmed with matching blue velvet ribbon. Walter R. Shiel Jr. was his brother's best man and ushers included Robert Moynahan and John Shiel, another brother,
Mrs. Hardesty chose a gown of Delft blue crepe with a matching lace bodice and dubonnet accessories. Her corsage was of American beauty roses. Eleanor blue and white print formed the costume of the bridegroom’s mother with a corsage of gardenias. Immediately following the ceremony a breakfast was held at the Marott Hotel for the bridal party and families. The table was centered with a tiered wedding cake and decorated with white roses. For traveling the bride chose a printed frock of summer brown and white print with a matching jacket and accessories and a turquoise felt hat. After a wedding trip to Chicago the couple will be at home at 3515 N. Pennsylvania St. on July 15. The bride is a graduate of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and Mr. Shiel attended Cornell University and was graduated from Purdue University. Miss Rosemary Miller, Denver, Colo, an aunt of the bride, attended the wedding.

Mounts Entereds In Horse Show
Several Indianapolis residents have entered mounts in the Franke lin Horse Show tonight and tomore row afternoon at the Johnson County Fair Grounds. Others have reserved boxes as spectators and will attend the dance to follow toe night's performance.
