Though the networks will be concentrating on sports events during the coming radio hours, the biggest
noise won't be that of the starter’s gun in tomorrow's major track meets. It will be the sound of exploding atoms—actually. The CBS “Adventures in Science” broadcast (5:30 p. m. today) is presenting the Columbia University physicist, Dr. John R. Dunning, as guest scientist. Dr. Dunning will bring to the CBS studio equipment from the university laboratory. The explosion of single atoms will upset the delicate apparatus to the point where sparks will be produced. They will be heard by dialers. Cosmic rays shooting through the studio likewise will produce similar audible sparks. In addition, the program will trace the history of the concept of matter, from early scientists’ belief in the basic elements of fire, water and air, to the present day. ” ” ” The three major networks will set up shop at Princeton's Palmer Stadium tomorrow to bring news of the annual track meet. will be the mile run, the American debut of Josef Mostert, Belgian distance runner who holds the world's three-quarter-mile record.
