TODAY'S PATTERN
You can be active as you please, and look smart as you please, in this charming day dress especially designed for large women. The top is gathered into a yoke, so that you have necessary fullness over the bosom, the V-neck-line always tends to make the face look thin, the skirt is slim-hipped and flares but slightly. Short, full sleeves give plenty of freedom for reaching, stretching and so on—and they'll feel cool all summer long. The frill and the two scallops give 8243 a smart touch of difference. Voile, dotted Swiss, percale, tub silk would all be pretty. Dark colored silk crepe, with a frosty white frill, would be smart, too. Pattern 8243 is designed for sizes 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50 and 52. Size 38 requires 5% yards of 35inch material. One and five-eights yards pleating or ruffling. The new Spring and Summer Pattern Book, 32 pages of attractive designs for every size. and every occasion, is now ready. Photographs show dresses made from these patterns being worn; a feature you will enjoy. Let the charming designs in this new book help you in your sew=ing. Recipe for Attractive Summer Dish Is Outlined.
By MRS. GAYNOR MADDOX

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in butter or other shortening. Beat egg slightly. Add milk and vanilla. Stir milk mixture into the dry ingredients and pour over the apples. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F.) for 45 minutes or until the apples are tender. This pudding may be served with a lemon hard sauce prepared as follows:
