Broad Ripple High Pians Exercises
Eighty-three seniors, class to be graduated in the history of Broad Ripple High School, will hold commencement exercises at 8 p. m. Monday at the Butler gymnasium. Dr. W. P. Dearing, Oakland City College, is scheduled to speak. Mrs. Clayton Ridge, School Board member, will present the diplomas. Baccalaureate services will be held tomorrow night at the Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sidney Blair Harry delivering the sermon. JOLIET, Ill, June 4 (U.P) .— John Jelliga, 34, Indiana Harbor, Ind., was under sentence today to] die in the electric chair for the tor-ture-murder Dec. 9 of Edward Pansa, Crete, Ill, farmer. He was found guilty late yesterday. Judge C. M. Baum said he will rule later on a mction for a new trial.

Mattie Hurley may keep the wealth a fairy godmother promised her in a dream. Mrs. Hurley, 66, went to sleep hungry, her husband jobless, her wedding ring pawned, she dreamed. R. W. Bunch, director of the Indiana State Bureau of Personnel, Indianapolis, chairman. Other officers elected in the closing session of the three-day conference are James Hard, member of the Jefferson County Alabama Personnel Board, vice chairman; Donald Nottage, chief examiner of the Minneapolis Civil Service Commission, secretary-treasurer. EXPLOSION REPORT ONLY FALSE ALARM
Neal Steele was going about his business of burning rubbish and tree stumps today in the cellarway of the vacant house at 2220 N. Harding St., when all of a suden there arrived what he immediately estimated as “all the policemen and firemen in Indianapolis.” He couldn't get the fire started so he poured some gasoline over the refuse. Department, shouting “Explosion!” Fire apparatus, the first aid squad, police and the entire neighborhood all arrived at once. When everyone left, went back to his work.
