LOOTING OF TRUST COMPANIES BARED
NEW YORK, Jume 3 (U. P.).— The Securities and Exchange Commission, investigating the looting of seven investment trust companies of $10,000,000 assets, learned today’ how looters acquired these firms without using a cent of their own money. The technique, described by David Schenker, commission counsel, was this: The operators borrowed money from financial concerns to buy controling stock of investment trusts. They put up no collateral, but gave a list of securities they would deliver later to guarantee the loan. Then, having bought the trusts, they posted securities taken from their portfolios. Six men have been indicted.
INSANITY, DIVORCE LINKED NEW YORK, June 3 (U. P.) —Dr. Ira S. Wilde of the Eugenics Research Association reported today that insanity was four times as common among divorced persons as among the population as a whole.
