INDIANA LAW SCHOOL ALUMNI T0 MEET HERE

Association Will Hold Annual Banquet at Columbia Club on June 7.

The annual meeting and banquet | of the Indiana Law School Alumni | Association is to be held June 7 at the Columbia Club, Lawrence C. Ammon of Indianapolis, alumni | president, announced today. Graduates of four law schools at

Indianapolis which later were con- |

solidated into the Indiana Law | School will attend, The associa- | tion has a membership of 1500 at- | torneys and judges practicing in | Indiana and surrounding states Schools whose members form the | organization are the Indiana Law | School, the American Central Law School, Benjamin Harrison Law School and the Indianapolis Law School. Daniel C. Flannagan, Ft. Wayne, is to be key speaker at the banquet. Addresses also will be made by Stanley O. Stoltz, class representative of the school's day division, and George J. Hoffman Jr. of the night division. The program at the banquet will include the London Aires, a strolling duo of accordion and guitar, and Florence Izor, xylophonist billed as “the only girl xylophonist who plays with six hammers at the same time.” She has appeared on Maj. Bowes’ program and at a local theater. Lawrence C. Ammon, association | president, will preside over the business meeting, at which officers are to be elected. President James M. Ogden of the law school then will present deans and the class of | 1938 A roll of classes will be called by | Samuel E. Garrison of Indianapolis, | secretary. Judge Howard L. Han- | cock of Rockville, Ind, is vice | president and Huber Patton of | Indianapolis, treasurer. Association directors are: Judge | Wilfred Bradshaw, Judge Earl R.| Cox, Charles W. Holder, Marjorie | Kinnaird, John A. Royse, Adele Storck and Elmon M. Williams, all | of Indianapolis, Curtis C. Hendren | of Bloomfield Judge Byron CC. | Kennedy of Wabash and Paul R. | Schnaitter of Madison, Ind.

RENAMING STREETS WOULD COST $30,000

Plan Commission Secretary | Reveals Survey Results.

Although a survey of Indianapolis | street names has been completed. duplicated names cannot be changed | until about $30,000 is available, Val | McLeay, City Plan Commission sec- | retary-engineer, said today. f He said he saw no prospect of obtaining the money in this year s| budget » Meanwhile, it was announced that | President Roosevelt has ced that expenditure by WPA of $69,528 for | a house numbering survey here. Work on the project has not vet! been started, according to City En- | gineer Henry B. Steeg. Mr. McLeay explained that the | prohibitive cost of street name | changing results from the $11 per intersection cost. This is the ex- | pense of replacing street signs, he | said. Thus it would cost $110 to | change the name of a single street | which is duplicated elsewhere if the street were only 10 blocks long. County Commissioners already have changed the names of about | 87 streets in Marion County outside | the City. Mr. McLeay said. The WPA survey showed name | duplication of 62 streets in the City | limits. The survey, which cost about $1500, is being prepared in final form now. | “There is no question but what the names should be changed,” Mr. Mc- | Leay declared. “But the work cannot be done except by City Council ordinance, and we will not introduce the ordinance until funas are avail- | able.”

STATE ELECTRIC RATE CUTISLAID TO TVA

Further Overcharge Still Results, Says Rankin.

Timez Specinl

WASHINGTON, Mav 31 Rep. | John E. Rankin (D. Miss), coauthor with Senator Norris (Ind. | Neb) of legislation creating the | Tennessee Valley Authority, today | charged TVA has caused electric rate reductions in Indiana. He placed the amount at $10,300,000 a | year, “And still the people are over- | charged every year $22,108.000, ac- | cording to TVA rates; $21,904,000, | according to the Tacoma rates, and $26,362,000, according to the One tario rates,” he said. Declaring for continued extension | of public ownership of power, Rep. Ranklin cited Government owned plants in Tacoma and Ontario, | Canada, as basis for his request. Northern Indiana Power Co. rates for 1932 were used by Mr. Rankin | as the basis for his statement he | said. |

$3000 ALLOCATED | ELECTRIC PROJECT

bership Corp, Brownstown, the!ll
