ADDED DELAY IN NAMING HARLAN CASE JURY SEEN

One of 12 Jurors Chosen

Tentatively Reports ‘Sick Headache.’

LONDON, Ky.. May 19 (U. P.).— Illness of a prospective juror threatened today to delay completion of a jury for the Harlan coal conspiracy case for another 24 hours and perhaps until the weck-end. Government lawyers and defense counsel, realizing that the case may lay down a broad principle of law that will serve as “teeth” for the Wagner Labor Relations Act, were thorough and searching in the questions that they asked the clerks, cobblers, farmers and salesmen summoned as veniremen. It appeared that the majority of the jury will consist of farmers. The Federal Government is attempting to convict coal mine executives, coal corporations and former deputy sheriffs on charges that they conspired to deprive miners of their rights to organize under the Wagner Act. Twelve tentative jurors were in the box when court convened yesterday, but O. L. Wilson, a real es-

tate man, one of the first veniremen | accepted, arose late in the day and |

said he was suffering from a ‘“nervous sick headache.” The Government has only two of its six peremptory jury challenges and the defense has used none of its 10. Thus it is possible that none of the men now sitting in the jury box will be there when the taking of testimony begins. Court was about to close when Mr. Wilson told of his illness. “Well,” said Federal Judge

Sponsored by the Leading Automobile Dealers of Indianapolis

Indiana's Most Exci Used Car Event

This important used car event is being sponsored by the automobile dealers of Indianapolis because of their desire to take full advantage of a natural trend. Every year sees used car sales mount rapidly during the 10 days preceding Decoration Day— everybody seems to feel the call of the open road or the vacation urge at this particular time. Dealers know this and know also that the Summer months slacken up considerably and for this reason are desirous of materially reducing stocks. This desire prompts this sale and gives prospective car purchasers more opportunities.

Bargains Galore

The cars offered during this event were fine cars when new and now after careful reconditioning they represent quality heretofore unknown in used cars. See these cars, ride in them, and you will quickly recognize the quality of a 1938 used car, regardless of the make, style, or year of the car you
