BOSTON, May 13 (U. P).~— sonal inspection. Marcellus Edward Wiid, 49, wealthy Cambridge World War aviator, shot himself to death while talking with his youthful girl protege last night after receiving a wire from Reno, Nev, saying that his wife was divorcing him, the girl told police today. Miss Alice Carolyn Tripp, 31, educated by the Wilds, said the wife. Winifred, had notified her husband late yesterday that she would seek a divorce on grounds of incompatibility. When she left, Mrs. Wild had announced that she would visit San Francisco friends. Miss Tripp said her planned marriage to a local youth soon had nothing to do with Mr. Wild's action. “Al, IT hate to mess up your rug,’ she quoted him as saying as he

Suffered Shell Shock

Police permitted Miss Tripp to telephone Mrs. Wild at Reno. A Harvard student, Mr. Wild left college to join the Lafayette Escadrille. Relatives said he sometimes suffered from shell shock. In 1926 he married Winifred J. Graustein of Cambridge, a sister of Prof. William C. Graustein of Harvard. Until recently, when the wife took a separate apartment, the couple had lived with her father.
