NEW MILITARY PROFESSOR AT |. U. APPOINTED

Lieut. Col. John F. Landis Is Named by Board at Monthly Meeting.

Times Special BLOOMINGTON, May 12.— Appointments of Lieut. Col. John F. Landis as professor of military science and tactics and Miss Margaret L. Rufsvold as instructor in library science in the school of education were announced here today follow=ing the monthly meeting of the Indiana University board of trustees. Further consideration of replacements of faculty members who have reached the age of retirement will be resumed when the trustees meet here again May 31. The annual meeting of the board was set for Thursday, June 9, at the Indiana University medical center in (ndianapolis. The trustees inspected and accepted the new education school, which nearly is completed. The school will open in the summer session opening June 15. Prof. R. M. Mikesell of the business administration school, was granted a leave of absence for the coming school year. A research exploration committee was named to study possibilities for research in various fields. Members of the committee are: Prof. Frank Horack, secretary; Dr. Eugene Kanning, Dr. Robert Kroc, Prof. E. H. Sutherland, Prof. Adolph Zucker and Alumni Secretary George F. Heighway, member ex-officio. Lieut. Col. Landis, who has been on duty in Washington, D. C., will succeed Col. W. R. Standiford as chief instructor for the R. O. T. C. unit.

EDITOR NAMED FOR SPECIAL COLLEGIAN

William Mitchell to Direct Year-End Edition.

William K. Mitchell today was named editor of a special year-end edition of the Butler University Collegian, campus daily newspaper. Publication date of the edition, to be sponsored by the Butler chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, national honorary journalistic fraternity, will be June T. Other staff members will be Harold Trulock and Clay Trusty Jr., business managers, and Robert Fattig and Ed Cotton, assistants to the editor. A summary of news events of the past year will be included in the eight-page paper. Award of the Sigma Delta Chi key, given annually by the Butler chapter of the organization to the person doing the most outstanding work in reporting on the staff of the Collegian, has been made to Miss Louise Ryman. She won the key permanently after having received the award three times during the year, This is the first time that the award has ever been made to a coed.

FT. WAYNE DISTRICT METHODISTS ELECT

FT. WAYNE, May 12 (U. P.).— Group officers of the Ft. Wayne Methodist Episcopal District were announced today following a district meeting. The officers include: Decatur Group—The Rev. Ralph Graham, Decatur, chairman, and the Rev. Robert Yonker, Decatur circuit, secretary. Garrett Group— The Rev, W. T. Arnold, Garrett, chairman, and the Rev. Claude Garrison, Auburn, secretary. The Bluffton group did not organize.
