FEDERAL JURY GETS EVIDENCE IN SPY PROBE

Indictments Are Expected in Alleged Activities of German Agents.

NEW YORK, May 12 (U. P).—A Federal grand jury today was hearing secret evidence of alleged espionage activities by German agents in this country, and several indictments were expected to follow. The peoceedings were cloaked with the greatest secrecy, as were the activities of Federal officers leading up to the grand jury action U. S. Attorney Lamar Hardy denied reports that 13 Nazis in this country were under suspicion with four persons arrested last February. He admitted that evidence was being presented before the grand jury, but refused to say how many indictments would be asked. Those under arrest, charged with theft of a U. S. Army aviation code, are Johanna Hafmann, red-haired hairdresser aboard the North German Lloyd liner Europa; Guenther Gustave Rumrich, deserter the U. S. Army; mer Mitchell Field army mechanic, and Otto Herman Voss, a naturalized citizen of formerly was employed at Seversky Aircraft Factory at Farmingdale, Long Island.

It’s in Harrison County one of the famous sources of flint in the Middle West. Now, because of the activities of Ohio State University, it has taken on a new importance to Indiana historians and archeologists. The Ohio school has established a lithic laboratory. Through its findings, historians hope to chart trends of Indian migration in prehistoric times. Last week this munitions plant was visited by directors of the laboratory and Glenn Black, Indiana Historical Society archeologist.
