N.Y. G. RAILROAD SEEKS TO DROP PASSENGER LINE
Petitions to Discontinue Service From Anderson To Louisville.
The New York Central Railroad today petitioned the Indiana Public Service Commission for authority to discontinue passenger train service between Anderson and Louisville, Ky., via Greensburg. According to the petition operation of this service in 1937 produced a total revenue of $36,625, while losses, exclusive of amounts spent for overhead, maintenance, and taxes, amounted to $52,297. The railroad operates two trains daily except Sunday between Anderson and Louisville via Greensburg, and two trains on Sunday between Greensburg and Louisville. It lists itself as the lessee of the C. C. C. & St. L. Railroad. From North Vernon to Jeffersonville, the trains run over the tracks of the Baltimore & Ohio Southwestern Railroaa Co. Issuance of a habeas corpus writ enabled Raleigh Coleman, 35, Negro Democratic precinct committeeman, to gain his freedom shortly after his arrest by Sheriff Ray, who is investigating alleged primary electon frauds. Superior Court Judge Herbert E. Wilson, in issuing the writ last night, said that if Sheriff Ray has any evidence of election fraud he should present it to the Marion County Grand Jury. Eleven pupils at Manual High School received all A-plus reports in the second marking period, Vice Principal C. M. Sharp announced today. Others on the senior honor list were Betty Hall, Marie Sassower, Annette Thornberry, Flora Achgill, Donnie Douglas, Virginia Lindeman, Mary Sprenger, Charlotte Smith, Katherine Strols, Helen Brabender, Ruth Fleck, Ruth Morgan, Mary Lois Allee. TUBERCULIN TESTS CONTINUE AT TECH
A staff of doctors and nurses today continued tuberculin tests of more than 600 Technical High
School pupils. The examinations, which started yesterday, are conducted under sponsorship of the Marion County Tuberculosis Association, Board of School Commissioners and the City Health Board. If examination of a pupil shows “positive” results, X-ray tests will be given to determine what treatment is necessary, Dr. Herman G. Morgan City health officer, explained.

BERLIN, May 11 (U. P).— Countess Wielopolska of Poland had been sentenced to life imprisonment today after a three-day trial before
the Peoples Tribunal which found her guilty of espionage. She was expected to be exchanged for two Germans who are held on the same charge in Poland.
