Despite protests of Indianapolis ministers, dog racing is scheduled to start next month at the Indiana Kennel and Auction Club track near MecCordsville under American Legion sponsorship, it ‘was announced today. Construction of the grandstand and track on Highway 67, halted several months ago when the Plantation, supper club nearby, was closed after a State Police gambling raid, has been resumed

Legal Without Gambling

Announcement that Hancock Post 119, American Legion, would sponsor racing was made by Commander Walter Kuhn. He said track pro-| moters explained racing would be legal if the plant were operated without gambling. A resolution condemning Legion sponsorship of the track was adopted by the General Ministerial Association of Indianapolis at a meeting here Monday.

Mayor Boetcher is to throw out the first ball in a game between the Link Belt Dodge and Broad Ripple Park teams on Riverside 3.
