HONORARY MEMBER | DENIED BY LEGION
By United Press headquarters
National of the
American Legion has official communication from the Department Adjutant of Iowa that corrects erroneous reports of honoraty membership granted to a German army veteran by the Marengo, Iowa, post. This Legion unit granted only the privileges of its clubrooms to Frank Hinkeliman, Marengo baker, who served in the World War with German forces. It did not admit him as an honorary member. The] Legion constitution makes no pro-| vision for honorary membership. | No one can belong who did not| serve in some branch of the U. S.| fighting forces during the World| War. | Hinkelman aided Marengo Legionnaires in building new quar-| ters, and in return the post gave | him entree to the clubrooms.

PAID POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT
It's Up to You—If You want to End Rule by Political Machines and Bosses, Go to the Polls and Vote for
OTTO RAY
Vote. Stay at the Polls Until You Have Voted. Then Help the OTTO RAY Machine Buster Workers at the Polls.
Remember These Instructions When You Enter the Polling Place:
All voters are urged to stop, read, think and act. Read the following instructions carefully if you want an honest, clean primary and if you desire to help Otto Ray, Democratic candidate for Mayor, bust the Democratic political machine and if you want a competent chief of police. On entering the voting place, you will be given one large white ballot, listing the names of the congressional, county, township, delegate and precinct committeeman candidates, and one small white ballot, size 8 by 615 inches, listing the name of Otto Ray and the other candidates for mayor and city council. You also will be given a blue pencil Examine your ballots carefully, See that your ballots are free from markings of any kind and that they are not torn. See that they contain the initials of both election clerks, in ink, on the lower left hand corner, on the back of the ballot. If your ballots are mutilated in any way, or do not carry the initials of both election clerks, demand another ballot.
For Physically Disabled and Those Unable to Read
The law says: If you are physically unable to mark your own ballot, or cannot read English, you must make an affidavit to that effect, then both the Democratic and Republican election clerks shall go with you into the voting booth and aid the voter in marking his or her ballot. Inform Machine Buster Worker at once if clerks do not mark ballot for candidates of your choice.
The name of Otto Ray for Mayor will be either first, second, or third, at the top of the first column to the left, on your city ballot. Notice the name of Otto Ray, on this list, for example. Be sure you make the cross inside the square, without touching the square itself. Use only the blue pencil given you to mark vour own ballots. Be cool and collected, as the law gives you ample time to mark your own ballots. After you have marked your ballots, and before you leave the booth, fold them separately so the face cannot be seen and so that the initials of the poll clerks on the back can be seen. Return the blue pencil to the poll clerk, hand your ballots to the inspector, and see to it that the inspector places them, at once, in the ballot box of your party, in your presence. If anyone attempts to buy your vote, influence your vote, or in any way interferes with your free voting rights, defend these rights to the limit. If you see any signs of fraud whatsoever, call for the primary election sheriffs, and also report it to the Otto Ray Machine Buster Workers at the polls, or call Machine Buster headquarters, Riley 6408, giving them the information regarding fraud, with your correct name and address. Otto Ray will give $25 reward to each of the first 20 persons giving information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of persons violating primary election laws. You may do this in safety to yourself. The law reads thaf anyone giving information of this nature will not be prosecuted.
