‘Two Other Pinmen, Evan Stuart and Harry Woirhaye, Top 700.
. Louis Koehler today occupied a
top niche in local bowling competi-
tion by reason of a resounding 708 on games of 267, 247 and 194 rolled

Ho Duce!
A Word of Warning— Gen. Phelan Is Headed\ Your Way.
By HENRY M'LEMORE United Press Staff Correspondent ORFOLK, Va. April 15—If I knew Benito Mussolini better (or at all) I certainly would warn him that Gen. John J. Phelan, New York Boxing Commission chajrman, is about to visit Italy. I would explain to Mussolini that he might as well resign himself to being the No. 2 man in Italy while the general is there, because the general is a natural head-of-the-table guy. He sits on no one’s right nor no one’s left. The general is the II Duce of boxing, and in his way is the most iron-fisted and relentless of pres-ent-day rulers. If you think Mussolini is stern with his Black Shirts or Hitler with his Brown Shirts, you should have a look at the general when he is handing out orders to boxers, managers, trainers, rubbers, and the like. His authority extends from the punches they take on their noses right down to the last inch of tape that goes on their hands.
And the general is not one of
those quiet, efficient, smooth dictators. He can make more noise than any six men who ever wore eagles on their shoulders. . He can
spot Mussolini balconies and still
outshout him from the Tiber to the Coliseum. II Duce is a pretty fair
hand at showmanship and making
~ faces, but I have seen the general,

Just Perfect
John Goodwin, manager of the Indianapolis A. C. ‘Alleys, has seen a lot of good bowling in his day, but none any better than his own performance in the Employees League at the I. A. C. the other John, after turning in games of 171 and 192, stepped up for his final effort and helped himself to 12 consecutive strikes for a perfect 300. He got quite a kick out of it.
when worked up over a lightweight’s sore thumb, run the 100vard gamut of human emotions in record time.
2 8 8 : N my mind’s eye I have a pretty good picture of the general's arrival in the Bay of Naples. He will expect to see Vesuvius spouting lava and if it doesn’t, he will fine it $500 for stalling and laying down. If the boat is late the general undoubtedly will walk right up to the bridge, take away the captain’s license, and accuse him of having too much bandage on his hands. If things don’t go right for him while he is in Italy, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the general, in a sweeping edict, had taken Ethiopia from the Italians and placed it under the rule of Arthur Donovan, Mike Jacobs and Jimmy Johnston. The fine thing about the general is that if none of these sweeping orders is obeyed he will never know the difference, because he will be so busy issuing new ones. Not only new ones, but contradictory ones. The general is just unbeatable. "I have warned you, Benito.
