NEW YORK, April 7 (U. P)— Prices moved narrowly in dull deaiings on the stock market today. Opening steady the» arket was firm o a time and then settled back slightly. Volume was light and tickerghstood idle for minutes at a time. : Steel and motor shares held eround the previous close at noon. American Telephne was at 124%, up %, and Westinghouse Electric at 67%, up %. Railroad issues were mixed in a fractional agea, oils firm and utilities steady. CHEVROLET OFFICIAL REPORTS SALES GAIN

T. H. Keating, assistant general sales manager of the Chevrolet division of the General Motors Corp., told 500 dealers, sales managers and salesmen here that the last 10 days of March showed general improvement in sales conditions throughout the country. Porkers Again Rise 15 Cents To $9.05 Top

All weights of hogs were another 15 cents higher today as réceipts continued light here and at most points, according to the Boreao of Agricultural Economics. Top on good and ihiire 210-220- pound butrhers rose to $9.05, a few strirtly choice 222-pound averages also making the price limit but premiums for the most part were relatively ‘scarce. Packing sows gained 15 to 25 cents over Wednesday's bulk sales although not that high in comparison with some closing sales yesterday. Most 400-550-pound SOWs moved from $7.60 to $8, good lightweights scarce and topping at $8.25 while a few rough heavies were as low as $7.50. | Values of steers and yearlings settled off tc a steady level today, after advancing 25 to 40 cents to date this week. Approximately 15 loads of good and choice steers ranged from $8 to $9.50, some common lightweights, $765. At the top of $9.50 were 2 loads scaling 1063 and 1120 pounds. The market on other Killing classes again ruled active, with strong sales as compared with previous advances this week. Most heifers are currently 25 to 50 cents higher than late last week. Medium and good heifers bulked at $7, 5 to $8.50, few below $8. Cow were extremely scarce, with cutter grades from $4.25 to $5.50, and beef cows up to $6.7g, odd head $7. : Best weighty bulls again made $7. Vealers held steady after most interests had placed 50 cent lower bids on early rounds. Best handyweights held at $11.50, with a few picked at $12. Fat lambs continued to move under an active outlet mostly to local killers at 25 to 35 cents higher prices. Most of the crcp comprised shorn lambs.
