SYPHILIS BLOOD TEST RECORD TO BE URGED
Morgan Asks Law Putting Data on Birth Certificate.
A AA
Dr. Herman G. . Morgan, City Health Board secretary, said today he will recommend to the Indiana Health Board that physicians be required to indicate on birth certificates whether serological blood tests were made before birth. Purpose of the plan would be to protect unborn children from congenital syphilis by calling attention of the parents to the possible presence of the disease, Dr. Morgan said. He said he did not know whether physicians could be required by law to perform the tests, but that the State Board could require physi= cians to give the information. “In this way the possibility of the presence of the disease in the mother will in many cases cause her to ask: for a test,” Dr. Morgan
said. Syphilis tests are made in.all the city prenatal clinics. Dr. Morgan said he will take the matter up with the local antisyphilis committee headed by Dr. Frank S. C. Wicks.
A crowd estimated at 9500 persons visited the annual exhibit yesterday, according to J. Frank Cantwell, show director. Open each day from 11 a. m. to 10:30 p. m., the display is to close Sunday night. The Williamsburg house, centerpiece of the show, is to be reconstructed at a permanent location in Wellington Estates addition, near Meridian Hills, it was announced last night at a dinner of the Indianapolis Home Builders Association. The Ihdianapolis Real Estate Board is to meet at luncheon in the Manufacturers’ Building at noon tomorrow, when Joseph W. Catharine, New York, president of the National Association of Real Estate Boards, is to speak.

PHILIPPINE TARIFF
Roosevelt and Quezon Agree On 20-Year Policy.
WASHINGTON, April 6 (U. P.).— The joint preperatory committee on Philippine Affairs proposed a plan today to “cushion” the adjustment of economic relations between the United States and the Philippines during the first years of proposed Philippine independence. Public and congressional reaction
State Department announcement that President Roosevelt and President Quezon of the Philippine Commonwealth have agreed upon the committee’s general formula. This consists of a plan to diminish trade preferences for Philippine products, year by year from 1940. to 1960, after which the Islands’ products entering the United States will havé to pay the full duty charged against similar products from other foreign
-countries. The committee is drafting details
1 of the plan which, it is believed, will
be completed in a month, but probably will not be ready for submission to Congress during the present session. .
