Members of 17 clubs in Indiana will convene here Friday to observe the 27th anniversary of the Exchange Club movement. E. W. Sprague of Memphis, National Exchange Club president, is to be principal speaker. He will discuss “The History, Traditions and Ideal$ of Exchange,” reviewing the gro of the organization from a sing unit, founded at Detroit in 1911,'to its preses#® place among national service clubs. Judge Cox to Fill Welfare Board Vacancy Soon.

Circuit Judge Earl R. Cox probably will name a successor to Mrs. Mariah B. Ferger on the County Welfare Board sometime this week, he said today. Mrs, Ferger, 5151 N. Pennsylvania St, was not reappointed last week when her term expired. She is a Republican. The Board is scheduled to discuss ‘possible successors at a meeting at 3 p. m. tomorrow. It may make recommendations to Judge Cox. He ‘said he would not reappoint Mrs. Ferpen) adding that she has “wanted to get off the Board. for some time.” Mrs. Perger made no comment. Several persons were reported under consideration for the post. Other Board members are Sidney S. Miller, president; Al G. Feeney, vice president; Mrs. Amelia Hooten and, F. O. Belzer.

HE WAITS 27 YEARS TO COLLECT MEDAL

HOBOKEN, N, J., April 6 (U. P.). —Dr. George B. Winter, dental surgeon of St. Louis, Mo., returned from

Havana today with a gold medal awarded to him 27 years ago. Dr. Winter said the medal was awarded in 1911 ‘by Odontological Society of Havana for his research work on impacted wisdom teeth. “I just didn’t find time to go down and pick it up,” he explained.

WASHINGTON, April 6 (U. P.) — John Daniel Sullivan, Waltham, Mass., seaman first class, was fatally injured when struck on the head by an airplane propellor aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S. S. Saratoga, a radio dispatch to the Navy Department said today.
