Flood Family's Reunion. Diamalized TIMES REPORTER ON "CBS
An Indianapolis Times reporter's activity in reuniting a frantic mother and her lost babies is to be featured on the Front Page News program over CBS-WFBM tonight at 7:30. Paul Boxell, the reporter, has flown to New York to appear on the program The dramatization is to portray the separafion of the family in Jeffersonvillg during the Ohio River flood last | year. Pictures and feature stories on The Times’ front page were instrumental in locating
{ the mother at a refugee station in
Columbus, after Mr. Boxell had found the orphaned children here. In tracing the story, the reporter discovered that the babies had been tied to a tree near Jeffersonville. Mr. Boxell is now on leave of
| absence from The Times attending
Indiana University. The program has Jack Johnstone as master of ceremonies and features the music of Russ Morgan's
orchestra. . ~/. Paul

“Good Music” by James Thrasher
Tonight the country is to hear what is doubtless the most pretentious and notable broadcast ever to originate in Indianapolis. As the finale of the season’s radio series, Fabien Sevitzky will conduct the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir in a program of the Overture to Mozart's “The Marriage of Figaro,” the same coms poser’s Piano Concerto in A Major, and the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven. Bomar Cramer, noted local pianist, will make his national network debut as soloist in the con- | certo, and Jeanette Vreeland, Edna Merritt, Edward Grobe and David Blair McCloskey will be soloists in the Ninth Symphony’s choral finale. The Mutual network has accorded Mr. Sevitzky the same courtesy which NBC has given its own symphony orchestra and the conductors, Messrs. Toscanini, Rodzinski, Monteux, Chavez and Hanson. The broadcast will begin at 8:15 p. m. and continue until the concerts

things, wanting to enjoy looking at’
themselves in the mirror, desire to feel they .are “properly dfessed,” desire to outdo other women in general and some women ir particular, desire to please men in general and some man in’ particular
are just a few of the more imporin’| tant ones.

THIS important problem has just had a new study by Dr. Paul J. Fay, of DePauw University.
LET'S EXPLORE YOUR MIND
| ter.
Very poor students do fauch better. Many colleges merely tell students “satisfactory,” “unsatisfactory,” or “failure.” Dr. Fay finds it better in most cases to tell them their actual marks if you tell them anything.

gram before the end because of previous commitments. WOR’s broadcast will end at the intermission, rather than disappoint its listeners with only a portion of the Beethoven work. The Indianapolis orchestra’s initial radio series has exceeded expectations, as have most of its other accomplishments. Placed in disadvantageous competition to the Toscanini concerts, it has gained its share of listeners, and pickup and reproduction have been accurate to the point of flattery. At this time, there are no definite arrangements for broadcasts next season. 8 8 Quincy Porter's Symphony No. 1 will make its radio bow on tomorrow’s New York PhilharmonicSymphony broadcast, the composer conducting (2 p. m. on CBSWFBM). Mr. Porter has devoted most of his previous efforts to chamber-music compositions, some of which have been heard here. He is a pupil of D’'Indy and Bloch, a Guggenheim Fellowship winner, former teacher at the Oioveland In stitute of Music and now music professor at Vassar. Perhaps tiptoeing a bit after last week’s discussion with K the Indianapolis orchestra anent Deems Tay- \ lor and “radio world premieres,” the New York orchestra announces “probably another first perform--ance” on the broadcast: The Prelude to Delius’ opera, “Irmelin,” which is still in manuscript. Except in the Porter symphony, John Barbirolli will be tomorrow’s conductor. Mischa Levitzki will be soloist in the Liszt E Flat Concerto, and there will be additional music by Mozart and de Falla.
Dr: Artur Rodzinski returns at 9 o'clock tonight to conduct ‘three more NBC® Symphony Orchestra concerts. On the program are Beethoven's “Coriolanus” Overture; Samuel Barber's Symphony in One Movement; Debussy’s “Afternoon ‘of a Faun”; the Prokofiev Classical Symphony, and hnanyi’s Suite for Orchestra, Opus 19. - Mr. Barber's admirable music was written \in 1936 and conducted by Dr. Rodzinski on a New York Phil harmonic-Symphony broadcast last year. ” 8 ¢ There will be more Sibelius on tomorrow's Radio City Music Hall concert, Erno Rapee conducting.
‘| The “hit symphony” of the year—
the Finnish composer's Second— and several of his songs are scheduled (11:30 a. m., WLW), » » 8 At 3 p. m. Monday, CBS-WFBM, . Bernard Eerrmann will conduct the Columbia Chamber Orchestra in Handel's Concerto Grosso No. 5; the Sinfonietta from Bach's Cantata No. 75; Buxtehude’s Prelude and Fugue in D Minor, and music from the early. opera, “Hydaspes,” by the Neopolitan composer, Francesco Mancini.
