NEV YORK, March 26 (U. P, Stocks plunged to new lows fo 1935 foday in the first million-share Saturday this year.

Hea'y, marginal selling in the first our caused tickers to fall behind. Then the list quieted, with prices rallying. Near the close another wave of selling hit the market | and tha tape fell behind again. Lon: lists of highest grade issues were ‘orced to new lows for the year or longer. The rail average made 3 new low since 1932. Chart readers said the market soon would test the 1935 levels, which some predic:ed would be penetrated. " The bond market followed the trend of stocks. Commodities held ‘steadier. Among stock leaders making lows were U, 8S." Steel, American Telephone. American Smelting, Santa Fe, Case, Chrysler, Du Pont, East‘man, General Electric, General Motors, Loew’s, Montgomery Ward, New York Central, Standard Oil of New .ersey, Union Pacific, Westinghouse Electric and Youngstown Sheet & Tube. Some leaders made wide declines. Large blocks of stocks appeared. One, amounting to 5300 shares, was in Central Foundry at 2 off 1% point and a new low for the year. Numerous other low-priced issues were very - active, indicating liquidation by small stockholders who are heavy buyers of that class of stocks. Oils were hard hit. Motors made new lows. Nonferrous metals followed steels down. Shares of mining

companies with Mexican interests 2%

continued to make new lows. Amusements were lower. Rails were under pressure, Utilities, rubbers, build-

STOCK MARKET |" INFLUENCE FELT ON GRAIN PRICES

Early “Corn Independence Breaks at Close, Losses Small.

CHICAGO, March 26 (U. P.).— Another weak day in stocks kept wheat prices in a lower range throughout the short session today on the Chicago Board of Trade. At the close wheat was % to %e lower, May 85% cents, corn was unchanged to 3 cent higher, May 607% cents, and oats were %4 to 3% cent lower, May 30 cents. The market opened irregular with a tendency to higher prices but continued soitness of New York stocks turned traders: to the bear side shortly after the opening. There was a temporary rally in midcession on short covering and a relatively higher market in corn, which has shown independence of wheat in recent days. Any movement to better levels, however, was short-lived in the wave of pessimism generated by the stock market. Kansas City prices, as well as those in Winnipeg and other domestic outside centers, were lower and. this increased pressure in Chicago. There was little grain news of interest and demand abroad for Australian wheat was temporarily suspended. Corn displayed independence of wheat for a time, but local selling
