The national parking problem is!”
the next great “frontier” awaiting exnloration by the inventive genius: of‘ industrialized America. Because, ss the American Automobile Association recently stated, the average auto no longer is primarily - pleasure vehicle. On the contrary; it is used primarily for going to and coming from work, for shoppin: or other important business. The niotor car, in a word, probably is 28 ‘important as any other single factor to America’s economic life. It is necessary, of course, that streets b= kept clear enough to facilitate movement of -autos, but it is just zs imperative that facilities be proviced so that cars may stop occasion: lly,

Trucks Worst Offenders :
Double parking, which is outlawed almost universally, seems to be the perking offense which stands most in need of adamant police regulation . Trucks and other commercial “chicles making deliveries probably, are the worst offenders, with casu2l shoppers a close second. Recent stop-watch surveys in San Francisco on busy commercial thoroughfares showed that, in some in-
stances, - {rucks and private cars|
remained “double parked” on ordi- | nary six-lane streets for as long as 17 minutes. When even one such car is “dou-ble-parked” all traffic in that direction is limited to one lane. And, in the Sen. Francisco case, this one lane happened to be occupied by a street railway line carrying a heavy trolley schedule. Such instances as these are merely single facets of a -manyangled: Br oblem, towards the solu-. tion: of “vhich the A. A. Motorists Warned To Report Accidents
Todd Stoops, Hoosier Motor Club secretary-ranager, today warned Indiana motorists to report accidents resulting in injury or death, or property damage exceeding $25, to police within 24 hours. “Many - persons are not familiar with the State law, which went into effect last June,” he said. “The law also stipulates that all highway accidents must be reported to the State Safety Department every 30 days; these reports must be made by city police departments, sheriffs,
