European Markets Confused, Dollar Holds Firm.

Ths stock market ran counter, to the trend of world markets today by rising fractions to 2 points. European exchanges were demoralized by the central European situation and. foreign - currencies broke. The dollar was strong. Stocks in New York opened higher and held fair amounts of the rise. M=tal shares led. Railroad issues met support after last week’s decline, Motors strengthened.. All *‘war stocks” were higher. Douglas led avations up with a gain of nearly 2 points.

‘Local hog values did not respond to lower trends around most of the market circle, according to the Bureau of Agricultural Economics. Prices heré held steady with Friday and Saturday on all weights of barrows and gilts, top of $9.90 being maintained on best 210 to 220-pound butchers.

VINCENNES, March 14 (U.P.).— Judge W. 8. Hoover was to decide today whether to release John N. Bey, 72-year-old retired business-
