SUSPECTED BAS STATION BANDIT IND GIRL SEIZED

‘Be'ieved Gunman Who Used "lotes to Advise Victims — “This Is a Stickup.’

£ man believed to be the gasoline station bandit who last week used notes to advise his three victims tha: “This is a stickup,” was arrested by police today. . In his apartment in the 300 block N. Delaware St. Detective John Sulli van, found a light brown top coat, similar to one worn by the gunman, The man was arrested in an auto with a 21-year-old girl in front of an =partment which detectives had beer watching for several hours. Victims of the gas station holdups were to view the suspect today. Both the suspect and the woman denied knowledge of the holdups.

Two Youths Held

Two 15-year-old youths were held today on delinquency charges after detec:ives said they had confessed participating in four Mars Hill burgi-ries and that of Hilton D. Mars! all, of 848 S. Pershing Ave. Det:ctives recovered $24.75, part of th: loot allegedly taken from Mr. Mars! all's home two days ago. The boys ‘ere taken to the Juvenile Detentic1 Home. youth as a possible - suspect. ~ Burglars who learned John Frazier, ‘ormerly of 2015 Boulevard Place, had left the city, looted the house of five chairs, a writing desk and other articles stored there, Frank Frazier, a brother, reported.

MOFE FARM YOUTH EDUCATION SOUGHT

WASHINGTON, March 11 (U.P). M. IL. Wilson, Under Secretary of Agricu ture, today testified before the Senate Unemployment and Relief Committee that vocational and extension programs for farm youth must he expanded. Under Secretary Wilson said that “more serious thought and planning rust be given to the problems confronting the millions of young people born on American farms, many of whom today are in actual distress and of whom many more do no‘ see clearly any promising opporiunities for the future.”

The Rev. Mr. Matthius Is Among Those Pleading For Ex-Coroner.

The State Clemency Commission

today studied a petition asking a parole for Fred W. Vehling, former Marion County coroner, now serving a 2-to-14-year Indiana Prison term for soliciting a bribe. Those appearing before the Commission yesterday in Vehling’s behalf were Louis G. Brandt, City Works Board president; the Rev. J. D. Matthius, Trinity Lutheran Church pastor; Harry Moore, undertaker; Herbert Wald, Indiana Undertakgrs Association president, and Dr. M. O. Winter.

Vehling was convicted of asking]

$150 from relatives of three persons killed by asphyxiation in return for giving‘a verdict of accidential death. He resigned in 1932, approximately one year after

he took office, when charges first were made. A lengthy legal battle delayed his commitment until last

year.

JOPLIN, Mo., March 11 (U. P).— Mrs. Eliza Harryman was seized with an acute attack of appendicitis. An ambulance was sent to a wrong address. A second ambulance overturned in a collision and two more ambulances were sent ‘for those hurt in the crash. A fifth ambulance, the last one available, took Mrs. Harryman to a hospital. She underwent a successful operan.
